an exhibition of rameshwar broota’s new work makes a subtle comment on the violence in our lives

In a studio on the fourth floor of Triveni Kala Sangam in Delhi, the latest work by artist Rameshwar Broota is taking shape.
He operated on it with the surgeon\'s hand and watched the epoxy set.
This resin has the effect of creating a floating world, which is a microcosm in which various objects and forms trapped on the sticky surface cause timely suspension in the afterlife.
Mysterious layers of objects from metal nails to X-
A wisp of lungs, Stray Feathers
The important text on which his exhibition title depends --
\"Script in time \".
The show opened on February 1 at the Vadehra Art Gallery.
Broota is showing off on mixed media the new work he has been trying to complete.
After 2016 exhibition at Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, this is undoubtedly his most exciting performance.
In his 70 s Broota was still trying to make it easy for him to rely on his honor.
He is known for his carefully rendered paintings on which he worked for hours with a blade to clear the paint until dark brown and black lines --and-
White appears in the image.
Broota\'s iconic work focuses on the male body.
The poet Keshav Malik says his concern for male form is to expose terra\'s \"Unknown Land \".
This describes Broota and his work: in a world dominated by female muses, not only does male nudity not get enough attention (
Mainly painted by male painters)
But as a silent man, the artist itself is also a mystery.
It is easy to see that he prefers painting to speaking.
When asked about the \"inspiration\" behind the new job, he smiled bitterly.
\"One day I was sitting next to the shredder in the office and suddenly found out how charming the text looked when it was cut into pieces.
When they are no longer legible, they become pure forms.
\"I think how beautiful it would be if I could show these chopped words in liquid glass,\" Broota said . \".
The search starts with liquid glass, hangs these jagged words in liquid glass and ends with epoxy.
\"Epoxy is the closest resin I can find to liquid glass.
It\'s not as heavy as glass, hanging objects and even saving them works.
\"This resin is difficult to use, but it has a magical quality,\" Broota said . \".
He added: \"It takes a long time for the media to dry
It takes at least 24 hours per floor.
Each object needs a layer, so it can take months to create a work depending on the layer.
\"Epoxy is not easy to buy in India and most of it has to be imported from the USS.
However, these are only initial troubles.
Is the experiment effective?
We note that when treated with resin, a mysterious air is produced.
It changed their meaning and added another layer beyond their visual games and luminous surfaces.
When we consider the choice of the object of Broota, we cannot miss the fact that they imply criticism of violence, whether direct or implied, as in X-
Ray images, the lungs continue the slow violence of toxic air.
Subtle comments on violence are answered by oilon-
And oil paintings.
Bullet, surface of skin, Burn
The holes in the plywood lead the audience to the scene of destruction.
In one of his \"Untitled\" paintings, we saw a director\'s chair, cricket stump, and a face from the scarred earth.
Powerful forces seem to have been replaced.
The war, a great flat man, turned civilization into a pile of bricks and rubble.
In this disastrous environment, the human being is only a phantom.
\"Normally, after a large wave of symbolic paintings, I went back to doing more abstract work, relying on some objects to convey meaning.
Objects that have been downgraded to the background have now become prospects.
\"Humans have traces, but there is really no human form in these works,\" Broota observed . \".
His preferred medium for these works is time. intensive oil-on-canvas.
\"I like to paint with oil paintings so I can paint a layer on the canvas and scrape it off.
In order to achieve the desired effect, I used 6 to 7 layers of paint.
\"I use as many blades as I use brushes,\" Broota said . \".
Surprisingly, his meticulous canvas has never been planned by sketching or preparing drawings: \"The composition on each canvas is spontaneously developed and I have been working hard until the painting tells me
\"The bigger problem is that Broota has amazing wit and humor in the early 1980\" ape series \", which depicts humans as a nagging ape engaged in various social activities.
This is a comment on the shaky social system of immoral police, military generals, bureaucrats and judiciary.
The sting and humor have faded and replaced by a more philosophical attitude.
\"I was still young and more desperate.
You can\'t keep silent when you are young.
\"In the face of social inequality, I use sarcasm as a weapon to deal with those feelings of anxiety,\" he recalls . \".
\"Now I don\'t think art can be so localized or so personal.
It has to face bigger problems.
It should be universal, which is why people see a more philosophical approach in my work. It is open-
\"Any culture can end and engage,\" Broota said . \".
We agree with that.
